I've been wanting to buy a wreath for Valentine's Day for our front door, but I just can't bring myself to pay the price for ones that I'm not in love with.
Remembering a project I made many years ago, I decided to make one on my own. Here's what I did (click on a photo to enlarge):
Using my husband's help, we shaped a heart out of a wire hanger. It's the only wire hanger in the house, so only one chance to get it right!
I then cut fabric about 8 inches tall (folded in half makes it four inches tall), and cut it in 3 inch wide strips.
I then looped these strips around the wire heart.
Here's how to loop through:
I then cut two more colors of fabric at the same height but I did each strip at 2 inches wide.
And two more colors at 1 inch wide:
Using the same looping method, I put these strips in an order around the heart. I really had to tug and pull to get the last few strips to fit, but I like how fluffy and tight it looks!
I looped one last strand through the inward peak at the top and tied a knot so that I would have a way to hang it on the door. If there was any more room, I'd have added even more colors!
Let me know what you think! And tell people that you read about this here!

That's super cute, Anna! I don't have the time/patience for it this Valentine's... but I think it would be a fun craft to do with an older child as well, since cutting and looping fabric isn't too complicated. :) Maybe we will do it next year. Thanks!
